The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is extending the moratorium of refund payment for the beneficiaries of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) given the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The extension will be for additional three (3) months from May-July 2020. This extension is our way of helping our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for the losses they have incurred, and continue to incur, during this pandemic health crisis.  SETUP is a flagship program and nationwide strategy of the DOST that aims to assist MSMEs through adoption of technology innovations to improve their operations and boost their productivity and competitiveness.  #WeHealAsOne  #dostPH   #ScienceForThePeople

This research of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on virgin coconut oil (VCO) is planned to have two arms: one hospital-based and one community-based.  For the hospital based, the study entitled, “Virgin Coconut Oil and Omega-3a Adjunctive Therapy for Hospitalized Patients with COVID 19” will be conducted at the Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) and will be led by Dr. Marissa Alejandria. The VCO will serve as a supplement to the daily treatment regimen of the COVID-19 positive patients. The study aims to assess the possible benefits of VCO if given to patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 in addition to the drugs being assessed in the clinical trials. This arm may possibly run for a minimum of one month or until the minimum number of patients have been achieved. Kapag ang mga magulang ay gumagawa ng kalokohan, lahat ng paraan ay gagawin nila para sila ay makapagtago. May mga pagkakataon pa na ginagamit nila ang kanilang mga anak para mas kaawaan sila ng mga tao. Mayroon nga akong kilalang ganyang pamilya. Sobra silang nagmamahalan kaya kahit sa paggawa ng kasamaan ay tulung-tulong sila. Ang mga magulang ang tagakumbinse at ang mga anak naman ang todo nagpapaawa. Ang mag-asawa na tinutukoy ko ay nangungumbinse sa mga nakapaligid sa kanila na pautangin sila. Ang pirming idinadahilan nila ay wala silang makain, walang pamasahe at kung anu-ano pa. Mangangako sila ng petsa ng pagbabayad pero kapag dumating na ang petsang iyon, magsasabi sila na walang pera. May pagkakataon na ang mga anak nila ang pinahaharap nila para mas maging kawawa ang kanilang kalagayan. January 26, 2020 was a sad day for Filipinos. One of NBA's greatest--Kobe Bryant died by a chopper crash! Kobe and his second daughter Gianna "Gigi," only 13 years old and already a very promising basketball player died along with seven others, pilot included. That morning, most Pinoys were still sleepy and just tuning in on their radios, or TVs or their smart phones and wham, news about Kobe's death was all over.  Coffee and breakfast was temporarily forgotten, at least by most, it was very shocking news indeed! Filipinos have a great love for basketball and Kobe was greatly loved by Pinoys. He was a frequent visitor--the very first time in August 1998, then September 2007, July 2009, July 2011, August 2013 and last was in June 25, 2016, few months after his retirement.  On that last visit, Kobe was warmly welcomed by thousands of Pinoys in Araneta Coliseum.
